An American actor, whose professional acting career began on stage. Kilmer made his film debut in Top Secret, and became popular in the mid-1980s after a string of appearances in comedy films as well as action films, including a role in Top Gun and a lead role in Willow. I was not until his performance as Jim Morrison in The Doors and Doc Holliday in Tombstone that he gained international notice. 1995 saw Kilmer star in one of his biggest roles, playing Batman in Batman Forever, the only blonde actor to have played Bruce Wayne/Batman. Born Val Edward Kilmer in Los Angeles, California, he studied at Hollywood's Professional's School and, in his teens, entered Juilliard's drama program. Kilmer owns a huge ranch in New Mexico where he hunts, hikes, fishes, and raises buffalo when he is not busy filming. Kilmer is also involved with The Wildlife Center of New Mexico and assists in rescuing animals and releasing them on his ranch.
