Tony Curtis
An American actor. Mr Curtis has played a variety of roles, from comedy, musicals, and dramas. He has appeared in more than 100 films including Some Like it Hot, Spartacus, and The Great Impostor along with numerous television appearances. He was born Bernard Schwart in the Bronx, NY to Jewish immigrants from Mateszalka, Hungary. Mr Curtis served in the Navy during World War II abord the USS Proteus as a submarine tender and witnessed Japan surrender in Tokyo Bay. Following his discharge, Mr. Curtis studied acting and moved to Hollywood in 1948 under contract with Universal Pictures and changed his name to Tony Curtis. His last name coming from his mother's family surname "Kurtz". In 2008, Curtis released his autobiography entitled, American Prince: A Memoir.
