As Jonathan Archer in Star Trek: Enterprise, Bakula played the captain of Earth's first long-range interstellar ship, Enterprise NX-01. This fifth installment of the 'Star Trek' franchise, serves as a prequel to Kirk and Spock. Scott Stewart Bakula was born in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Sally and J. Stewart Bakula, a corporate lawyer. He graduated from Kirkwood High School, and was active in soccer, tennis, and theatre. Later, he sang with the St. Louis Symphony. Bakula attended college at the University of Kansas, studying law, until his junior year when he left college and moved to New York to pursue his first love, the theater. Bakula is best known for his five-year stint on the innovative series "Quantum Leap".
