Harrison Ford

An American film actor and producer. He is most famous for his performances as Han Solo in the Star Wars Trilogy and as Dr. Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones film series. Born in Chicago, Il, his father was Irish and his mother a Russian-Jewish immigrant. In his youth, Mr. Ford was not know as an athlete or a scholar, but was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, and earned the rank of Life Scout, the second-highest rank available. Because of this, his character, the young Indiana Jones was depicted as a Life Scout in the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade film. His career began in 1964 when he applied for a radio voice-over job in Los Angeles, CA. He didn't get the job, but remained in LA and signed on with Columbia Pictures playing bit roles until the early 1970's. Discontent with the roles, he left to pursue a carpentry career. His work was in high demand working for some of the best known names in Hollywood such as The Doors, Sally Kellerman, Sergio Mendes and George Lucas, who cast him in the pivotal role of his career, American Graffiti in 1973. Then in 1975, George Lucas hired him to read lines for actors auditioning for part in his new film Star Wars. Impressed by Harrison's portrayal, he cast Harrison in his iconic role as Han Solo and established his star studded career. Mr. Ford followed with leading roles in the Star Wars sequels, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, Witness, Patriot Games, The Fugitive and Air Force One just to name a few. His most recent releases include Extraordinary Measures, Morning Glory and the science fiction Western, Cowboys & Aliens alongside Daniel Craig. Mr. Ford ranked No.1 in Empire's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Times" and is one of the highest grossing box-office stars.
