Tom Woodruff Jr
The man who has played, made and wore the Alien suit in every entry in the franchise except Ridley Scott’s original. Woodruff, Jr. is a creature effects maestro and co-founder of the Academy Award winning company Amalgamated Dynamics Inc. Born in Williamsport, PA in 1959. As a teenager after seeing one of the Planet Of The Apes films in a theater, Woodruff focused his attention on the craft of make-up and special effects. At 13, he used his father's 8mm home movie camera creating his own special effects films. Woodruff moved to LA in 1982, working with small make-up effects houses, after a year, Woodruff joined Stan Winston's team on TERMINATOR. That was the beginning of a five-year period which saw Woodruff become a key coordinator, with the opportunity to work on such features as ALIENS and PREDATOR. Academy Award-winning special effects artist, Tom Woodruff, Jr. has created some of the most memorable effects ever seen on the big screen, together with his partner, Alec Gillis.
