An American actress, she made her screen debut in Robert Redford's 1998 film The Horse Whisperer. Born Catherine Ann "Kate" Bosworth in Los Angeles, CA. She grew up mainly on the East Coast, frequently moving because of her father's job, spending her youth in Darien, CT and Cohasset, MA. A champion equestrian, in her spare time, she has volunteered with various non-profit organisations, including a Los Angeles program for physically challenged children who learn to ride horses with assistance. She became well known with a leading role in 2002's Blue Crush. Bosworth since appeared in several notable films, including Superman Returns (2006), where she played Lois Lane, and 2008's blackjack drama film 21.
