David Prowse

Tall and broad-shouldered bodybuilder and weightlifter, David Prowse is most widely known for his role as the physical form of the menacing villain Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy. He played in two sequels: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983). Born in Bristol, England. Prowse is well known in the United Kingdom for his role as the Green Cross Code Man, a character in a road safety campaign for children which ran from 1976-90. In 2000, he was awarded the Officer of the British Empire for his service to British public safety.
