David Barclay

David is a world class Puppeteer, Animatronic Designer and Supervisor, a CG key frame Animator, and Director and Producer of animatronic and puppet projects for film and television. David Allen Barclay was born to actor parents Mike and Ann Barclay in England. When David was four his parents formed Pex Puppet Theatre and by seven David performed traditional Punch and Judy at the British Puppet Guild. Throughout his childhood he designed and built puppets. Including a marionette of Darth Vader! As a teenager he was offered the position of make up assistant working for Stuart Freeborn on The Empire Strikes Back. While on set, one of the assistants to Frank Oz, the chief puppeteer for Yoda, became ill and David was drafted in as a puppeteer and was later chosen to play Jabba the Hutt in "Return of the Jedi". This started his career as one of the most sought after puppeteers in both Hollywood and England.
